Smoothies galore!

Smoothie kick

I’ve been on a huge smoothie kick lately, mostly due to my desire to incorporate my delicious Complete shakes (find out more here) into them, lol, but I’ve had a few requests for recipes, so I figured a post was in order. I used to have a basic spinach, banana, almond milk combo, but daily smoothies mean this is getting old fast! I did a boost cycle (a little cleanse and rest for our bodies) with a bunch of lovely ladies in our girl gang and it set me up to continue super healthy eating on the regular. And these smoothies are a big part of that.

Tips and tricks

For the liquid I like to use almond or cashew milk and I make my own. You can check out that process here. It’s not as much work as you think, I promise! Or just throw in a handful of nuts and the water called for in the recipe for instant nut milk. You can use good quality cow’s milk too. For some of the recipes I change it up and use coconut water.

I like to keep a bunch of organic frozen fruit handy, and I got through a LOT of bananas. There are other ways to get a nice thick, creamy smoothie if bananas aren’t your jam. I have tried frozen cauliflower (you honest to goodness can’t taste it) and avocado, both of which make deliciously creamy smoothies while adding a veggie bonus to your day. I will often throw in a handful of spinach or mixed green leaves to get another hit of veggies too.

Play around with different fruits and veggies and combos. You will find your faves!

A friend sent me a recipe for a cashew and cauliflower based smoothie that I then adapted for what I had on hand. I love me a pink smoothie! You could add banana too or use almond or cow’s milk as a substitute for the cashews and water.

2 cups strawberries

1/4 cup cashews

1 cup frozen cauliflower

1 sachet or scoop of Vanilla Complete

1-2 cups water (try more or less to find the thickness you like)

Add all ingredients to a high powered blender and blend until smooth.
