Spiked hot chocolate – get your cup of cheer
We love some hot chocolate and healthy mochas at our house, and the weather is cooling down just enough to give us a great excuse to drink them…often. We do like to keep it healthy though, so we use raw cacao as the delicious chocolatey base. You can check out how good raw cacao is for you here.
Since it’s the holidays, it’s a great time to get a little festive with a spiked hot chocolate! There are a couple of spiking options in the recipe, Irish Whisky or peppermint vodka – both great holiday treats! This is a great little tipple to snuggle up on the couch with and watch those holiday movies. You could even multiply the recipe and make a big batch in the crockpot for a cozy night in with friends. Try adding a drizzle of freshly made choccy fix, some whipped cream or a couple of marshmallows if you want to indulge, but don’t overdo it!
Spiked Hot Chocolate
- 2 tsp raw cacao
- 1 1/2 Cups Almond or cows milk
- 6 Drops liquid Stevia
- 1 oz Jameson Irish Whiskey, or
- 1 oz Vodka with 1-2 drops food grade peppermint essential oil added
Heat the milk in a saucepan over low heat.
Add remaining ingredients and whisk until smooth.
